Advanced Audio Checks: Bass, Treble & Frequency Sweep
1. Tonal Frequency Bands Educational frequency presets

These tones help you check whether you can hear different frequency ranges. They do not provide a laboratory measurement of your headphone's frequency response.

2. Full Frequency Sweep (20 Hz → 20 kHz) Continuous logarithmic sweep from low sub-bass to high treble limits.
Live Sweep Frequency: 20 Hz → 20,000 Hz

Headphone Troubleshooting & Common Audio Fixes

One Earbud or Earcup Has No Sound

Check 3.5mm plug seating or USB-C/Lightning adapter contact. Inspect OS audio settings to verify the balance slider isn't panned 100% to one channel. For TWS earbuds, clean charging case metal pins and perform a factory re-pair.

Left and Right Channels Swapped

Verify the physical L and R markings on your headband or earbuds. Check 3.5mm extension adapters (some 3-pole/4-pole wiring pinouts invert channels), and check if third-party audio EQ software has swapped routing.

Bluetooth Audio Drops or Lag

Disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth. Place both earbuds in their charging case for 10 seconds to re-synchronize the left and right slave connection, then verify your device output is set to Stereo rather than "Hands-Free AG Audio".

Sound Distortion or Buzzing

Reduce system volume to prevent amplifier clipping. Disable aggressive software bass boosts, check for hair or debris on earbud mesh filters, and test with another device to isolate cable vs driver damage.

What This Headphone Test Cannot Measure

Browser tests verify functional routing and perceptual limits; they do not replace artificial ear coupler SPL measurements or acoustic THD analyzers.

Questions, answered

Quick answers about how this tool works.

Put on your headphones or earbuds, set volume to a comfortable level, and click "Start Headphone Test". Test Left Ear and Right Ear channels individually to verify stereo playback.

Click "Play Left Tone" to play an isolated tone in your left ear, and "Play Right Tone" for the right ear. Confirm that audio plays strictly in the selected ear cup or earbud.

Insert both earbuds, start at a low volume (15%), and run the Left/Right Channel test and Stereo Position test to check wireless sync and channel separation.

Common causes include a loose 3.5mm jack connection, offset OS audio balance sliders, Bluetooth earbud pairing loss, or physical cable damage.
